SeSaME Oil Buying Club.
Welcome to our new club. We are based in Sedgeberrow Worcestershire. My name is Mike Parker. I chair Sedgeberrow Sustainable and Manageable Energy (SeSaME) www.sesame.me.uk and I am the manager of the club.
If you live in Sedgeberrow you will already know about our old group
Since 2010 we have been hosting a basic bulk oil buying group, centred around a single supplier, advertising order dates and the buying process through the Sedgeberrow Post. It enabled fairly consistent reduced prices and gave us a modest dividend that we could use for our groups wider administrative costs.
We are pleased to be able to utilise new software that will enable us to launch a better online buying system. The new buying club will seek price quotations from several oil companies on your behalf, giving a greater competitive edge to your purchasing power.
Its ease of administration means that we will be able to offer membership to all householders within a 5 mile radius of Sedgeberrow, which will increase the value of the Club’s joint orders and be an added incentive for a more competitive price. We therefore particularly welcome members from Ashton under Hill, Beckford, Dumbleton, Wormington, Hinton, and Aston Sommerville, Childswickham, Conderton, Elmley Castle, Kemerton and Overbury.
We will place orders almost every month, just missing a couple in the summer when demand for oil is lower. As a club we will try to ensure everyone in the villages we cover benefits from the discounts we achieve,
The club is free to its members and we pass on all of the savings we achieve, less a levy of 0.25p a litre which we will arrange with the supplier and pass on to the buyer’s village to encourage participation.
All we ask in return is that you support the club by placing your orders through it. Like any community scheme it works best if everyone joins in.
Oil heating is about the most expensive way to heat a home; most people in rural areas are left without a viable alternative. As a club we are a member of a new organisation set up to act as a voice for rural oil buying groups across the country. The Oil Buying Group Association aims to highlight the issues facing rural homes that have to rely on oil for heating.
If you want to join our club please complete the application at the bottom of this page. As soon as I have it I will respond.
